West Sacramento Foundation Donates More Than $11,000 to Local Schools

Back to school gifts to assist local schools with return to in-person education

In an effort to support West Sacramento schools as they return to in-person education, the West Sacramento Foundation has made gifts to ten local schools, totaling $11,250.

Last year’s reliance on distance learning was a challenge for families, teachers, and schools across West Sacramento and the pandemic made it difficult for local parent teacher organizations (PTOs) to raise funds and support their school sites as they normally would. Therefore, as students return to school, the West Sacramento Foundation is making gifts to local PTOs to support an enriching, engaging, and educational experience for all students.

“The return to school is usually an exciting time, full of optimism and excitement. We know that many local schools and their PTOs are striving to create a welcoming environment for all, but many were unable to fundraise last year as they normally would. We hope these gifts can make a big different for a lot of local students in our community,” said Nathan Dietrich, president of the West Sacramento Foundation’s Board of Directors.

In order to ensure the Foundation’s limited funds were distributed equitably, larger gifts were given to PTOs at the school sites with the greatest number of students that qualify for a free lunch. Gift amounts ranged from $750 to $1,500. The PTOs at the following schools received gifts:

  • Bridgeway Island Elementary
  • Elkhorn Village Elementary
  • Lighthouse Charter
  • Our Lady of Grace School
  • River City High
  • Riverbank Elementary
  • Southport Elementary
  • Stonegate Elementary
  • Westfield Elementary
  • Westmore Oaks Elementary

In addition to making these gifts to our local schools, the West Sacramento Foundation is pleased to announce that the All Charities Raffle will take place again this fall. The All Charities Raffle is a great way for local nonprofit organizations to raise funds. The West Sacramento Foundation board of directors collects and donates thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes and also manages the ticket distribution to participating organizations. Participating nonprofit organizations sell tickets for $10 each and earn $8.50 for each ticket sold. The remaining $1.50 helps build the West Sacramento Foundation’s annual Community Grants Program fund and covers the costs of ticket printing. Typically, each year the All Charities Raffle helps local nonprofits raise more than $75,000 collectively and $15,000 for the Community Grants Program. More details about the launch of the raffle and how to get involved will be available soon.

The Foundation continues to raise funds for local non-profits and is actively soliciting prizes for the All Charities Raffle. For more information about the West Sacramento Foundation or to contribute, please visit our website at
